Looking Forward to the New Year
Looking back 2013 was a whirlwind of year! It started out in California at our 3rd trip to the Rose Bowl, then I had a lot of great times with my awesome roommates in my final semester of college, then we GRADUATED college, I got my first real job, moved to a new city with Tyler, and am ending the year by taking some time to look at what I want to accomplish in the future.
In 2013 I learned how important BALANCE is in life. When I focus too much in one area, others begin to suffer (in fitness and in LIFE). In 2014 I want to continue working to balance healthy eating, fitness, and realistic goals; helping others and doing whats best for myself.
I'm really looking forward to what 2014 has to bring!

Shoes!
I need new shoes AGAIN! I go through tennis shoes so quickly! (not sure why I still call them tennis shoes, I don't even play tennis....)
I really like this pair Nike Training with the comfort sole, but they are starting to tear at the side and wear down over all. What are your favorite shoes for fitness? I use cross trainers rather than running shoes. Since most of my exercise involves teaching classes, plyometrics and multi-directional movement, the thicker soled cross trainers serve me better than the thin light running shoes.

The 12 Days of Fitness
So many people are looking for extra accountability to their fitness goals through the holidays! It can be a tough time of year to stay active and eat right.. The weather gets colder, the food gets sweeter and savorier, and days get busier. This is why I'm offering the 12 Days of Fitness Holiday Challenge, to help keep all of us (myself included) feeling good this holiday season! The Challenge will begin Saturday December 14th, and run though Christmas on the 25th. Every challenger will commit to one healthy behavior of their choice for the 12 days, as well as participate in each "Day of Fitness" challenge. This is a fun FREE way to stay on track! Message me if you're interested, and I will add you to the Facebook group by the end of the week!

Using a Food Diary
When I feel like my diet isn't as good as it could be I like to take the time to get it back in check!
To do this I keep a food diary in my fitness journal for a couple days or even a couple weeks. It depends on how long it takes to feel in control and consistent again. However, I don't like doing this forever.. just enough to keep in check!
Here's today so far. Not ideal with 2 meal bars but I had to open at work at 4:45 this morning, and we need to go grocery shopping!! Writing down with what I eat helps me keep perspective, avoid unnecessary snacks (like too much peanut buttttter), and to only eat when I'm hungry!
